Everybody wants to get in on trick-or-treating. I was explaining to a bunch of students the other day that dressing up on Halloween has its origins with people who would either dress as ghosts and spirits to avoid notice by otherworldly visitors sojourning in our plane of existence. Either that or individuals who would try to pass themselves off as some of the ghosts and spirits so they could do mischief. One way or the other, it's about pretending to be part of a world where you don't belong. I guess I was thinking that sometimes it might just work the other way around.
